Dr. Katz, is a Core Investigator and an Associate Professor of Internal Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine at the University of Iowa. Dr. Katz has expertise in cost-effectiveness analysis and in the development of practice-based interventions to incorporate clinical guidelines into practice. He has received awards from the National Institutes of Health and AHRQ to examine the scientific validity and impact of implementing guidelines for smoking cessation and evaluation of unstable angina. He was a recent recipient of a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Generalist Physician Faculty Scholar grant (1998-2002) and a NCI Preventive Oncology Academic Award (1998-2003). Dr. Katz is also a talented mentor and is Co-PI on the University of Iowa National Institutes of Health K30 Clinical Research Training Program.
